In 2018 my boyfriend from that time and I went on a 4-week Backpacking trip through Europe. We visited six countries and had an amazing time discovering different foods and meeting many people. It was the first time for me that I went backpacking for longer than a week.
We went to London by plane and stayed there for three days. London has many sights to offer and we also enjoyed the weather (it was mostly sunny) and the food (mainly Indian and Latin-American food). It is such a nice and diverse city! To read more about our time in London click here.
From London, we went to Rome by plane and stayed here for three days as well. We really enjoyed Rome – especially the food and the monuments. I just love Italy! We also visited the Vatican City and were lucky enough to experience a mess by the Pope in the Vatican! If you want to know more about what to do in Rome click here.
From Rome, we took a train to Pisa. We stayed for two days but wanted to stay longer. There is not that much to see in Pisa, but we really liked the atmosphere and especially that it was less crowded than in Rome! To read about our trip to Pisa click here.
From Pisa, we went to Florence and spent around two days there. Florence was very crowded but still, we managed to visit the famous cathedral and the Galleria dell Arte with the famous David. To know more about Florence click here.
From Florence, we went to Bologna only for a day trip as it was on the way to Venice. I liked it and especially there are much fewer tourists than in other Italian cities. To read more about our experience in Bologna click here.
From Bologna, we went to Venice by bus and spent three days there. Venice is beautiful and we were lucky enough to have amazing weather! We walked around the famous Piazza San Marco and even went to the islands of Murano and Burano. To read more about what to do in Venice click here.
From Venice, we took the night bus to Vienna. We stayed in Vienna for two days and walked around the city. I love the architecture in Vienna, it's really beautiful. To know more about our time in Vienna click here.
We went to Bratislava next and probably this was our favorite place of the entire Europe trip. East and Southeast Europe are very underestimated. We loved the people, the food, and that there were fewer tourists. I really hope to discover more places in East and Southeast Europe soon. To read more about Bratislava click here.
From Bratislava, we went to Prague by train and spent another three days there. Prague is amazing but also very crowded. We particularly enjoyed walking around the city next to Moldova and eating Czech food! To read more on things to do in Prague click here.
From Prague, we made it back to Germany by bus. We visited Dresden for one day which is close to the Czech border. Dresden was one of the most destroyed cities in the second world war but the architecture is amazing! To read more about our time in Dresden click here.
Leipzig (my hometown) is located two hours away from Dresden. It’s a very historical city where many important historical events happened – like the peaceful revolution that reunited Germany. You can visit Leipzig in one or two days. For recommendations click here.
Finally, we also made it to Berlin, the capital of Germany, which is only located two hours away from Leipzig. We spent a day there and again visited all the important monuments.
